I was among the 1300 attendees/presenters at UAC 2008 in Denver, and we came from all over the world, more than 26 countries being represented.  It was the largest astrology conference in over thirty years.  A huge array of speakers and topics were assembled to provide everyone with an intellectually stimulating conference ranging from the latest financial forecasts to the astrology of great literature.  By night, we were dazzled by the line-up of entertainment from the spectacular opening ceremony to the Regulus Awards Banquet. 

The UAC 2008 Marion D. March Regulus Awards Banquet was held in the Grand Ballroom to a sellout crowd.  The Life Achievement Award was presented to Rob Hand, whose astrology work is known throughout the world.  Rob said he hoped he wasn’t receiving the award because others thought his achievements were over.  He announced that he had many projects in mind and that he would continue working in astrology as long as he was still competent to do so.  Mercury Power publication reported that days earlier when Rob was honored with the Marc Edmund Jones Award at the Kepler College party, Rob said that prior to coming to the conference, he noticed that he had transiting Uranus on the MC with transiting Jupiter sextile.

Ray Merriman drew a huge crowd to his presentation “The New ‘Big Bang’ and its ‘Green’ Opportunities.”  He said that some of the most powerful cosmic patterns of a lifetime will unfold in 20o8-2012, and with them will come powerful challenges to both political arenas and financial markets.  Unusual opportunities will likely abound for investors and traders.  “We’re coming into a great renaissance and we don’t even know it.”  He thinks that when Uranus moves out of Pisces in 2011, there will be a blow-off and there will be a big drop in oil prices.  He feels oil will reach $144 a barrel before the drop.

Noel Tyl had a huge turnout for his “The Magic of Solar Arcs” presentation.  He demonstrated how Arcs and Transits and the Secondary Progressed Moon work together to predict changes and growth.  He used the natal chart of the founding of New York City and through Solar Arc how the devastation of 9/11/2001 fit the circumstances exactly. 

Arlene Nimark chose “Election 2008 and the 90 Degree Dial” as the subject of her lecture.  Using the 90 degree dial she explored the charts of the presidential candidates.  She also asked tantalizingly, “Will the same person who wins the election be inaugurated as president?”  She said John McCain would make a very weak president.  There is too much Neptune.  For Hillary Clinton, she said Hillary will not go down without a fight.  There is a major battle between her and Obama.
Obama has Poseidon, a strange light shining on him.  Regarding the Inauguration chart of January 20, 2009, she said the country is going into a depression.  She also said that whoever is elected president has a good chance of dying a violent death.  With midpoint of Mars/Uranus, it can be an accident.  There is a lot of destructive undercurrent going on.  She sees an eruption.  There is Sun/Kronos midpoint on the Inaugural Chart and Obama has Mars/Saturn midpoint.  She said regarding Hillary Clinton inauguration chart, “We could end up with a woman president.  She is the only one who should be president.  She has a void of course Moon.”

The sessions concluded with a ‘big finish’—Panel “The USA 2008 Presidential Election.”  Ray Merriman was the moderator and there were eight panelists.  Among them were Shelly Ackerman, who described her astrological work on the day of the election.  “Votes will not be counted properly.  Something happens during the summer.”  She also said regarding the Inaugural chart, “Whomever gets sworn in will find difficult conditions that do not work very well.”  Rob Hand said that he doesn’t care who wins the election, just so it isn’t another term for the current administration.  He also said that he doesn’t think that Hillary Clinton will be nominated.  There is a Mars/Saturn/Pluto combination involved and she has Saturn on the MC.  He said the Inauguration Chart shows the mood of the winner of the election.  He said he has a feeling about Barak Obama and assassination.  Sandra-Leigh Serio reiterated the same conclusion regarding Barak Obama.  She said, “I believe Barak Obama is a man of destiny.  If everything remains the same as now (May 20, 2008) I believe he will be the Democratic nominee for President of the United States.  I also feel he needs more security around him.”

Everyone who attended agreed that UAC 2008 was an extraordinary experience and one that will be remembered with pleasure.  Plans are already in progress for the next United Astrology Conference.  It is schedules for 2012, place and exact dates to be announced.
